Foot Health

Why should I get a medical pedicure?

There are many reasons that your feet deserve specific attention.  Many establishments do not cater to the specialized needs of your feet.  Not everyone has picture-perfect toes and may require additional attention than that of the cookie-cutter salons found on every corner. Medical pedicures take a comprehensive approach to your nail and foot health. They are performed by medical professionals with the fundamental knowledge of the ergonomics of the foot and have specialized training to identify and treat common issues.  Also, utilization of aseptic technique and sterilization (the key to not spreading foot fungus and bacteria among patients) is at the forefront of their care.

Medical pedicures are still considered a cosmetic treatment to improve the overall health of your nails and skin of the feet.  It aides in preventing and treating nail disease and other related health issues.

What can you expect during a medical pedicure?

The first step always involves cleansing the feet without stripping nutrients from the skin barrier. This can be done in both a "dry" or "wet" technique ensuring client safety from cross-contamination of fungus and foot disease. Then, the nails and skin of the feet are assessed and treated in an individual manner.  This likely includes nail trimming, cleaning, filing, shaping, thinning & buffing as well as exfoliating the skin‘s hardened (callous) areas utilizing sterilized or single-use professional tools.  This is typically followed by moisturization and massaging of the feet and lower legs.  We typically leave the polish out of our treatment and focus on the health of your feet.

Who can benefit from a medical pedicure?

Those with corns, calluses, dead skin, athlete’s foot, discolored nails, foot issues, the elderly, diabetics, or those that prefer the cleanliness and knowledge of medical professionals.

How do medical pedicures promote overall health?

Often times the feet are neglected as we age or get busy in our lives.  Well-kept nails and feet promote positive ergonomics of the foot.  This assists in decreasing safety concerns as it relates to overgrown nails and improper strides caused by calluses/pain.  Highly trained medical professionals can either perform interventions not usually capable of salons or have the referral resources to get you the specific care you need to address higher level problems.

Why choose a medical pedicure?

1. More hygienic option than traditional pedicure salons

2. Can treat those with foot and toes fungus, diabetes, or other medical problems

3. Personalized comprehensive catered care

4. Relaxing and improves the health of your feet

5. Your feet will more than just look good - they will be healthy as well (not just putting lipstick on a pig!)

6. Medical professionals with knowledge on foot health, procedures and safety
